Switching from a Legacy System?

With more than 30,000 students, 28 school sites and an annual budget of $220 million, Rialto Unified School District places considerable demands on its business system software.

The IT department at Rialto realized that their existing VAX/ALPHA business system was becoming obsolete and was restricting their ability to improve business processes. A major challenge with transitioning from the 20 year old system was finding a vendor who understood how to take them from old to new with software capable of  accommodating years of customization.  After a comprehensive review of available systems, the decision to implement Smartetool’s SmarteHR and Smartefinance business system platform resulted from a recognition of  Smartetools’ past experience converting similar legacy systems coupled with an excellent software fit.

Smartetools accomplished a complete software and data conversion upgrade for Rialto with no interruption in service and minimal demands on district resources. Rialto’s district office and 28 school sites completed the transition when they went live with Smartefinance in November, 2007.

With the complete implementation of SmarteHR and Smartefinance, the district is now able to take advantage of added capability, with the flexibility to evolve business processes and services.
